Change Maker of the Day: Students & Alumni

National Charter Schools Week - Day 5: Students and Alumni

We’re in the closing stretch of National Charter Schools Week, but that is not slowing us down—let’s keep it going strong. Today we’re highlighting the next generation of Change Makers: students and alumni!

Join us on Instagram and the The Charter Blog as we turn over the reins to the students and alumni, who are our movement’s future. We are excited to hear from Julien Broomfield, a KIPP Newark alum, on her post-graduate life. Also, check out our Insta to see snapshots from Goodwill Excel Center—a charter school in the nation’s capital for adult learners looking to go back to school for their diplomas.

Keep connected with all the latest news about the charter school movement! Be sure to check out this week’s Friday Five for coverage of all the highlights from the 2018 National Charter Schools Week. If you’re not already receiving the Friday Five, feel free to update your email subscription options.

Want more charter school content and resources? Be sure to join us next month at the National Charter Schools Conference in Austin, Texas, June 17-20. There's no better place to celebrate charter schools than with others in our movement. Hear from our featured speakers—including 2017 National Teacher of the Year Sydney Chaffee—and get a chance to meet this year’s Hall of Fame class. Register today to keep the celebration of charter schools going!

Highlights from Yesterday

The social media conversation around National Charter Schools Week remained strong as ever with politicians and education advocates alike showcasing their support of charter schools. Congressman Ken Buck of Colorado celebrated the week on Facebook and Twitter; Senator Roger Wicker of Mississippi highlighted the Senate resolution; and Congressman Erik Paulsen of Minnesota made a floor statement recognizing Charter Schools Week.

Thank you for joining us all week in celebration of the 19th annual National Charter Schools Week, as we highlighted the Change Makers in the high-quality public charter school movement. We already can’t wait for next year—sign up to receive emails about next year’s celebration!

Best,
