Three more charter schools could get the go-ahead Monday. The state Board of Elementary and Secondary Education is slated to vote on the proposals after each received a favorable recommendation from commissioner Mitchell Chester.

The Hampden Charter School of Science in Westfield plans to serve 252 students in grades 6 to 9, eventually adding a full high school program. The Map Academy Charter School in Plymouth would educate 130 students who have dropped out of high school or are at risk of quitting. The Old Sturbridge Academy Charter School in Sturbridge would initially serve 130 students in kindergarten through grade 3, eventually expanding through middle school.

Four existing charter schools are also up for expansion votes.

Now that Presidents’ Day is behind us, it’s time to remember the ladies. In honor of Women’s History Month, the Ventress Memorial Library in Marshfield will host “An Evening with Eleanor Roosevelt” on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Historian and playwright Carol Cohen portrays Eleanor Roosevelt after the death of her husband, Franklin, when she lived at Val-Kill in Hyde Park, N.Y. Visitors will learn about her role as a human rights activist through primary sources from her personal and professional life. For more information, go to www.ventresslibrary.org.

Just how bad was last year’s drought? You can find out at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Jenks Center, 109 Skillings Road, Winchester. The presentation, sponsored by the Winchester Farmers Market Community Hub, will focus on the drought’s effects and how the loss of biodiversity leads to climate change. Andy Hrycyna of the Mystic River Watershed Association and Jim Laurie of Biodiversity for a Livable Climate will be the featured speakers.

How about a little music? Melvin Seals and the Jerry Garcia Band will perform blues, funk, and jazz — with a dash of R&B and gospel — at 8 p.m. Saturday at The Cabot in Beverly. Garcia nicknamed Seals “Master of the Universe” for his artistry on the Hammond B-3 organ. Tickets range from $22.50 to $36.50. Purchase online at thecabot.org or call 978-927-3100.
