Governor Charlie Baker will give a speech on education at the conservative Manhattan Institute in New York later this month, amid growing national interest in his push to open more charter schools in Massachusetts.
Baker is expected to talk about charters and his focus on vocational education, among other initiatives.
The speech, on Oct. 25, will come just two weeks before Massachusetts voters decide whether to allow for the creation or expansion of 12 new charters per year.
Charter expansion was leading in public opinion surveys earlier this year, but polls show a tightening contest.
The Manhattan Institute and the left-leaning Brookings Institution have published reports favorable to Massachusetts charters in recent weeks, and the Wall Street Journal has editorialized in favor of lifting the cap on charters.

A national network of charter school supporters has also contributed heavily to the ballot measure campaign.
Baker, unlike his predecessors, has largely avoided politicking outside Massachusetts, saying he is entirely focused on in-state issues.
