NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — To celebrate the 20th anniversary of our state’s charter schools, Highville Charter School hosts a time capsule burial.

Connecticut’s public charter school community celebrated the 20th anniversary of the state’s 24 charter school on Wednesday at an event called “Captured in Time.”

Students, families, educators, and school leaders gathered at Highville Charter School in New Haven to bring individual items to put into a time capsule.

The personal items selected to represent the schools, were placed in the capsule and buried on Highville’s campus.

School officials say that the capsule will be opened again in another 20 years.

The event provided the opportunity for everyone to come together and talk about the history of the schools and current challenges the school communities face.
