Thanks goes out to Idaho Governor Brad Little for signing into law HB 422, the Accelerating Public Charter Schools Act, which provides public charter schools in Idaho with more flexibility to innovate while still being held accountable for results.
This Wednesday, Mar. 6, the House Committee on Education and the Workforce is holding a hearing with charter advocates and Committee members titled Proven Results: Highlighting the Benefits of Charter Schools for Students and Families.
ADVOCATE: School Leaders of Color Bring Message of Equity to Washington, D.C.
In more than 80 meetings with congressional lawmakers and staff, charter school leaders of color emphasized equity, innovation, and hope in education. They highlighted:
Personal experiences showing how charter schools provide high-quality education, especially for students of color.
The need to address resource gaps and inequities in public education through innovative solutions.
Data demonstrating charter schools' role in promoting diversity and serving students from low-income backgrounds.
Strong parental support for public school choice, particularly among families of color.
They also stressed the importance of the Charter Schools Program in supporting charter school growth and called for equitable funding to ensure all students have access to quality education.
