National Charter Schools Week - Day 4: Advocacy

Thank you for celebrating National Charter Schools Week with us all week long! Today, we enter Day 4 of highlighting the Change Makers in our movement with a spotlight on Advocacy.

Yesterday’s Spotlight on Elected Officials

Charter schools continue to dominate media headlines as the celebration of National Charter Schools Week rolls on!

Last night, the National Alliance celebrated our Champions for Charters in a special reception at the Congressional Visitor Center. Check out this piece in The 74 about the honorees.

Keeping in the political theme, political figures across the country continued the conversation surrounding National Charter Schools Week. Senator Lamar Alexander of Tennessee; Congressman Scott Peters of California CA; and Senator Tom Carper of Delaware, tweeted about Charter Schools Week, and Congresswoman Virginia Foxx of North Carolina gave a floor statement in recognition of Charter Schools Week.

The press in Washington has taken notice of the charter school movement this week, as the Washington Examiner took a closer look at the success of charter schools in the nation’s capital.

The charter school movement remains strong, and the celebration continues across the nation. As we end the celebration of National Charter Schools Week, take time to focus on the “why” of our movement. ExcelinEd discussed the various factors surrounding why charter schools exist.
